On September 21st of this year, an 8-year-old boy in Jiuquan, Gansu Province, who was bouncing and jumping in the last second, fell to the ground instantly after touching the locking steel pipe on the roadside, and ultimately died despite rescue efforts. According to surveillance footage, shortly before the incident, the boy was bouncing and playing at the intersection. Unexpectedly, after touching the nearby locking steel pipe, he collapsed to the ground. After investigation, it was found that the accident was caused by a certain real estate development company in Jiuquan, which violated safety regulations while renovating the parking lot by threading electrical wires inside the locked steel pipe. Due to continuous rainfall in the local area, the electrical connection head inside the steel pipe leaked electricity, directly causing the child to be electrocuted when touching the steel pipe. The accident rings the alarm again, and these hidden "child killers" in life, if not careful, can lead children into danger.


Let's look back at the electric shock incident at a fountain in 2019. In a residential area in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, two young girls, one 8 years old and the other 10 years old, were electrocuted due to leakage of landscape lights in the area. Despite rescue efforts, both children died.

In 2018, in a residential area in Jiangsu, a child was knocked down due to an electric shock while playing near a distribution box. Fortunately, being rescued in a timely manner and receiving timely medical assistance was the only way to escape the danger of life.

The biggest wish of parents is to hope that their children can grow up healthy, but there is no completely safe area in the world. The only way is to tell children how to avoid danger. But electrical safety hazards are everywhere, and even adults cannot guarantee their own safety. Many non compliant and non-standard operations are everywhere, and each vivid life instantly disappears, causing the parents of children to fall into a painful abyss. The condemnation rose up in response, and although the relevant responsible departments received corresponding punishment, their fresh lives could no longer be sustained

This type of news is constantly emerging, which is heartbreaking. While lamenting and regretting, we should consider how to prevent tragedy from happening again!

By analyzing the above events, the following issues have been identified:

1、 The safety awareness of relevant units is not strong enough, and the occurrence of opportunistic operations is frequent;

2、 The electrical materials used have serious quality problems and safety hazards;

3、 The skill level of installation and construction personnel varies, and there is a lack of work instructions;

4、 The construction operation standards are not perfect enough, and hidden works cannot be visualized for management.

To address these accident hazards and hazardous factors, we believe that the following measures need to be taken to avoid them:

Firstly, it is necessary to avoid the phenomenon of unauthorized connections. This accident can be seen from the report that it was caused by leakage of the wiring connector. To avoid this situation, it is very important to standardize the wires and wire joints.

Secondly, as an outdoor electrical power intake structure that requires safety protection, its protection level must reach at least IP67. This accident was caused by leakage of electricity from the joints inside the steel pipe. If the electrical connection protection level is high enough and meets the requirements of relevant operating standards, the accident can be avoided.

Thirdly, in recent years, electric shock accidents have occurred frequently, almost all of which are related to leakage, as well as the AC 220V voltage used. As is well known, AC voltage greater than 36V poses a risk of electric shock to humans. It is recommended to use DC technology below DC48V for outdoor low altitude.

Fourthly, wire connectors require a certain level of safety knowledge and operational skills, making them highly specialized. In daily life, due to limitations in conditions, people often make their own wiring arrangements, and a slight lack of attention can lead to major disasters. It is recommended to use IP67 or higher technology for electrical power intake and supply, which to some extent ensures the safety and reliability of electricity consumption.
